Introduction
Bybit EU switches to a single uniform trading fee on 5 October 2026 at 11:00 UTC. That sounds like simplification, but it is an increase: the maker fee disappears and everyone will pay what the taker used to pay. At entry level, 0.10% becomes 0.25%.
Bybit presents it as one clear fee. Work through the numbers and no VIP tier becomes cheaper, while seven out of seven become more expensive for anyone trading with limit orders.
What exactly changes
Right now Bybit EU charges different fees for maker and taker orders. Place a limit order that rests in the order book and you provide liquidity, so you pay the lower maker fee. From 5 October that distinction no longer exists.
The fees apply to spot and spot margin. Bybit EU does not offer perpetuals: a MiFID II application for those is still pending.
| Tier | 30d volume | Maker now | Taker now | From 5 Oct | Maker increase |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| VIP 0 | < €1M | 0.1000% | 0.2500% | 0.2500% | +150% |
| VIP 1 | €1M | 0.0675% | 0.1000% | 0.1200% | +78% |
| VIP 2 | €5M | 0.0650% | 0.0775% | 0.0775% | +19% |
| VIP 3 | €10M | 0.0625% | 0.0750% | 0.0750% | +20% |
| VIP 4 | €25M | 0.0500% | 0.0600% | 0.0600% | +20% |
| VIP 5 | €50M | 0.0400% | 0.0500% | 0.0500% | +25% |
| Supreme VIP | €100M | 0.0300% | 0.0450% | 0.0450% | +50% |

Who will pay more
Makers at every tier. The difference is largest at VIP 0: 0.10% becomes 0.25%, two and a half times as much. At VIP 1, 0.0675% goes to 0.12%, close to a doubling. Even at Supreme VIP, where traders turn over at least €100 million per month, the maker fee rises by half.
Takers notice little of it on crypto pairs. Only VIP 1 goes up, from 0.10% to 0.12%. The rest stays the same. Nobody is better off.
In concrete terms: trade €100,000 per month with limit orders and you now pay €100 in fees. From 5 October that is €250. Over a year the difference adds up to €1,800.
Where the new fee comes from
Bybit EU currently runs two schedules: one for crypto-to-crypto pairs and one for fiat-to-crypto pairs such as USDC/EUR. That second schedule is the more expensive one.
Put the new uniform tier structure next to the old fiat taker structure and they are identical: 0.25%, 0.12%, 0.0775%, 0.075%, 0.06%, 0.05% and 0.045%. The ‘new’ fee is therefore the most expensive column from the existing table, applied to everything.
How that compares with the rest of the EU
At 0.10% maker, Bybit EU was among the front-runners in the European market. At 0.25% it drops to the back of the field: more expensive than Bitvavo and Finst, more than three times as expensive as Backpack and OKX, and level with Crypto.com.
| Exchange | Maker | Taker |
|---|---|---|
| Backpack | 0.08% | 0.10% |
| OKX | 0.08% | 0.10% |
| Bitvavo | 0.15% | 0.25% |
| Finst | 0.15% | 0.15% |
| Bybit EU | 0.25% | 0.25% |
| Crypto.com | 0.25% | 0.50% |
| Bitstamp | 0.30% | 0.40% |
| Coinbase | 0.40% | 0.60% |
| Kraken Pro | 0.40% | 0.80% |

What you can do now
Your VIP tier determines the fee, and you reach that tier in three ways: trading volume, the balance on your account or average net borrowing. Anyone holding €100,000 is VIP 1 and pays 0.12% instead of 0.25%. That halves the difference, but it is still more expensive than now.
If you trade mainly with limit orders, this is the moment to recalculate your costs. The new fees are already in our fee calculator; it switches over automatically on 5 October, so you can see now what you will be paying later.
Frequently asked questions
When does the change take effect?
On 5 October 2026 at 11:00 UTC. All orders executed from that moment onwards fall under the new schedule.
Does this apply outside Europe as well?
No. This is a change at Bybit EU GmbH, the Austrian entity with a MiCAR licence from the FMA. Global Bybit has its own schedule, with 0.10% for both maker and taker on spot.
So nobody ends up cheaper?
No. On crypto pairs the taker fee stays the same at five of the seven tiers and goes up at VIP 1. Makers pay more at all seven tiers.
Does the separate fiat fee disappear?
Bybit speaks of one fee across your entire account. Whether the separate schedule for fiat-to-crypto pairs disappears completely is not stated in so many words. We will only adjust that once it has been confirmed.
Does anything change for perpetuals?
No. Bybit EU does not offer perpetuals; a MiFID II application is pending. The change affects spot and spot margin.
